The last few months of my life have been on major go mode. Greg and I packed up our LA home and drove across the country to settle into our new home in Austin, we’ve been traveling for the holidays and for Bloom (hello UK launch!), and going back & forth between Texas and our LA Bloom HQ.
Lately I’ve just been trying my hardest to find balance and stay on a routine I know will make me feel my best, especially when it comes to snacking and eating nutritious foods, but it can be hard! I wanted to share some ideas with you guys of things I keep on hand when I’m traveling or just things I try to have stocked in my bag to snack on. I have a more flexible schedule now and have the ability to have my meals prepped most days or order from my go-to healthy spots, but I know that isn’t always the easiest thing to do and not everyone has the time for it — there were definitely times I didn’t have the time or energy to a few years back, so I totally get it. Give these snacks a try the next time you’re at the market and see how you like them!
Dried Fruit
I’ve been absolutely obsessed with dried mango lately and feel like I literally always have a bag on me. I love the hormone healing benefits of mango so I’ve implemented it into my routine as of late, but it’s also just so yum. I always reach for organic, unsweetened dried fruit, otherwise it’s just this sugary mess and you might as well just eat a candy bar.
Rawr protein bars
Okay these bars have really been saving me between meals lately and I can’t get enough. They taste so good and they’re made with only a handful of super clean, fresh, and minimal ingredients, not any of the added junk you might find in a shelf stable granola bar. They also live in the fridge so they taste super fresh every time — definitely my favorite bar right now and big bonus points because they’re high protein!!
Coconut water & Greens
My favorite afternoon *fun drink.* You already know I’m drinking my daily scoop of Greens but you have to trust me on this one. I add any flavor (usually mango, though) to Vita Coco coconut water and it’s life changing. So refreshing, so hydrating, and so many fruits, veggies, and antioxidants from the Greens. I love making this in the afternoon instead of reaching for something sugary and caffeinated because it gives me that extra boost I need to finish the day and it’s just so delicious to sip on.
Turkey sticks/ Beef jerky
My favorite high-protein snack!! The Bloom office is literally stocked with turkey and beef sticks at all times because all the girls love them and it makes me so happy. They’re the best for taking on the go and getting in a bit of added clean protein, plus they taste super yum too. Each stick has anywhere from 5-10 grams of protein, and bags of jerky obviously have much more servings & higher protein content, so it really just depends what you’re looking for but I 10/10 recommend.
Fresh fruits & veggies
Of course I couldn’t leave the old reliables out – don’t underestimate the benefits and easy of having fresh fruits/ veggies on hand! Sometimes just grabbing a bag salad from the grocery store and a bit of protein is the only option and that’s okay – not every meal will be perfect. I love eating healthy fats so having fresh avocados is always nice (don’t forget to add salt & pepper, so yum)! And you can never go wrong with some carrots or cucumbers for a fresh and healthy snack.
Remember that eating healthy is all about balance, and some weeks will look different than others. Be kind to yourself and try to focus on making choices that will make you feel your best, whatever that looks like to you. Always remember to listen to your body!
